Description

This unique position combines technical and commercial responsibilities into one role. Sales Application Engineers work directly with customers to propose and design products and service offerings for our OEM customers.

They are empowered to make decisions and expected to navigate the trade-offs in design, performance, and cost implications and our company is structured to support the Sales Application Engineer's efforts to serve our customers. This is a high visibility position that has a direct impact on growing the business. All senior executives in the company were sales engineers at one point in their career.

Essential Functions

• Serve as the single point of contact for new and existing customers providing them with thermal/mechanical designs, quotations, and ongoing engineering support.
• Own the design from concept through delivery: provide specifications to SolidWorks designers, advise manufacturing, and coordinate with materials requirements as necessary.
• Develop prospective accounts (in conjunction with field sales reps) by understanding the prospect's needs and proposing designs and service offerings.
• Attend relevant industry trade shows and participate in any relevant industry technical associations.
• Be an active participant in our team of sales application engineers that supports fluctuations in workload and contributes to each other's professional development.
• Travel expectations are 6-8 times per year. Each trip is typically 1-3 days.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or related.
• Proven track record as a HVAC or Refrigeration engineer with minimum 5+ years professional work experience.
• Experience working with and understanding refrigerants and their impact on system performance.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Capable and comfortable handling multiple priorities - balancing urgent tasks with progress on important tasks.
• Strong leadership characteristics coupled with the ability to work in and communicate well within a team environment.
• Excellent customer-facing skills and is comfortable presenting throughout an organization's hierarchy.
