The Surgical Tech I at Plains Regional Medical Center supports surgeons in the operating room by preparing and providing necessary instruments and equipment during surgical procedures. The role ensures a sterile, safe, and effective environment by following infection control and sterilization protocols. This position requires knowledge of surgical instruments, aseptic techniques, and may involve handling various types of surgeries under surgeon supervision.

The role will provide assistance and support to surgeons by preparing and providing instruments and equipment during surgical procedures in the Operating Room. Works under the supervision of the surgeon. Facilitates a safe, effective and orderly operating room to maximize patient safety.
Follows approved infection control, quality assurance, and department policies and procedures related to the cleaning, decontamination, disinfection, and sterilization of surgical instruments, trays, packs, and reusable medical devices for all hospital departments and PMG clinics.

High School Diploma or GED required.
Current BLS required.
Scrub various types of basic surgical procedures: general, OB/gyn, urology, gastroenterology
Short-term training in operating room setting preferred.
Previous experience with handling of sterile supplies and/or instruments preferred.
Familiarity with all surgical instruments and equipment. Working knowledge of sterile and aseptic technique.
